THE SERIES vs. William Paterson: William Paterson leads the all-time series 36-12. NJCU has won eight of last 12 meetings.
LAST MEETING:On September 19, 2013 in Wayne, NJ. William Paterson won, 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-14). NJCU's
Cindy Garcia, a 2013 graduate, led the match with 22 digs.

LAST TIME OUT: NJCU lost both matches to Hood College  (23-25, 16-25, 23-25) and Notre Dame of Maryland (19-25, 23-25, 22-25) on September 13 at a tri-match in Baltimore, MD. Jade Medley was the standout in both matches but did not get enough additional support for the win. Against Hood, Medley produced a match-high 11 kills (11-7-23) with six digs and .174. In match two another standout, Medley had 10 kills and Shege Haxhaj, achieved nine kills with a .571 rate. NJAC OPENER: Today is the 2014 New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both schools. William Paterson, which finished seventh last year (21-6, 3-5 NJAC) was picked seventh in the league’s preseason coaches’ poll; the top six finishers of nine schools that sponsor the sport make the NJAC Tournament. NJCU, which was eighth in the NJAC in 2013 (8-29, 1-7 NJAC), was picked to finish ninth.
HOME OPENER: Today is also NJCU’s 2014 home opener. The Gothic Knights will play 12 home matches including a tri-match (September 27) and a four-team tournament (November 1-2) at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center on ‘Coach Charlie Brown Court.’ NJCU is 158-126 all-time in home matches in its 31-year history (1984-87 venues unknown) and 133-94 all-time in the JMAC since it opened in 1994.
SO CLOSE: This season, out of the eight matches that NJCU has played this season there had been six sets that were determined by less than three points. Despite the overall record, the Gothic Knights have hung tough in matches. NJCU will look to turn around the outcome of these close sets and seek its first victory of the 2014 season.
